Hundreds of visitors mainly youths and children flocked to the Fire Rescue Open Day which was held in conjunction with the Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (BFRD) 51st anniversary. The half day Open Day took place at the BFRD training centre Lambak Kanan recently (18 March 2011, Friday).
During the Open Day various activities are held such as fire engines and fire motorcycles exhibitions, life air pack jump, Turntable Ladder (TTL) ride, fire engine and motorcycle ride and firefighting and rescue equipment exhibition. The open day is held in order to give opportunity to the public to see themselves the firefighting and rescue equipment which is used by BFRD and as well as it is a way for the public to interact with the firefighters in order to know their scope of works.
A UBD student who visited the open day said “I applaud the department initiative in organizing such informative open day as though such event it can show to the public that BFRD really capable in protecting the public in every incidents. At the same time it is a way to promote the firefighting career to the public”.
