Two separate accident occurred last Sunday night (8 May 2011, Sunday) along Jalan Kumbang Pasang near the capital. The accidents saw the involvement of four cars and keep emergency services personnel busy responding to both accidents.
The first accident which occurred near the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Building occurred around 9:50pm. According to the eyewitness who is the father of one of the victim said “My children said the accident occurred when a Toyota Vios crashed into the road barrier. Upon seeing the accident, my children and another car nearby slows down. Suddenly the Toyota Vios make surprise movement and speed away from the scene. The runaway car left behind its front bumper and causing my children car and the nearby car bumped into each other.” He also added that he impact of the accident saw one of the passenger in one of the cars rushed to hospital for further checkup. A team of police personnel from BSB responded to the scene to control the situation.
Meanwhile few minutes later another accident occurred in front of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation Building. The accident which occurred around 10:45pm occurred when a car which was driven by a group of teenagers speeds up and nearly causing a car bumped into a police patrol car which conducting patrol at the area. The impact of the accident not only badly damaged the car but also damaging the roadside flowers and the nearby concrete drain.
According to the eyewitness who is also the victim of the first accident said “I was driving my siblings who just involved in the first accident when suddenly the car driven by the teenagers speed up behind us and crashed. Luckily we are able to evade from crashing the police car in front of our car”
The eyewitness also added that after the crash the teenagers managed to free themselves from their car and runaway from the scene. Fortunately the swift police action from BSB and the Royal Police Guard who patrol the area managed to nab the teenagers. A team of paramedics from the RIPAS Hospital EMAS team arrived at the scene and the teenagers are referred to RIPAS for further checkup.
