16 March 2011 Wednesday - Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (BFRD) recently (16 March 2011, Wednesday) receive 27 new vehicles which will be used at its fire stations for firefighting and rescue operations. The new vehicles hand over was held at Lambak Kanan Training Centre.
Present at guest of honour to the event was Dato Paduka Haji Abd Majid bin Mangarshah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs. Also present was the Director of Fire Rescue Yahya bin Hj.Abdul Rahman, Deputy Director of Fire and Rescue Lim Hock Guan as well as officers and staff from Brunei Fire and Rescue Department and National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC).
The ceremony started with the recital of Al-Fatihah followed by the handover of keys from the fire vehicles supplier namely S.K.Fire Rosenbauer, Goh Hock Kee Motors and NBT Brunei Sdn Bhd. The keys were later presented by the guest of honour to the Director of Fire and Rescue. The guest of honour and other BFRD officers later consented to the sprinkling of the scented water and “tepung tawar”.
The new vehicles fleet consists of 9 units Mitsubishi Pajero Command Cars (CC) which are used for officers and personnel transport, 9 units Mitsubishi L200 and 1 unit of Toyota Hilux Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) which is used both for personnel transport and carrying equipment, 5 units of Mitsubishi Canter pick-up which is used for cargo transport and 1 unit of Isuzu NPR with SK Fire bodyworks Light Pumper (LP) which is used for firefighting at areas which are inaccessible to major fire tenders.
