A group of participants who currently participate the
special fire marshal course held by Japan Council Authorities of International
Relation (CLAIR) with cooperation from Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (BFRD)
from 10 until 20 February last Wednesday (12 February 2014, Wednesday) visited
the Berakas Fire Station.
The visit started at the Women Operation Unit where the
visitors which comprise of fire marshal from government and non-government
agencies and CLAIR advisors were briefed on the facilities and fire appliances
used by the unit which are manned 24 hours by all women personnel. From the
Women Operation Unit they later visited the nearby Berakas Fire Station where
they saw themselves the firefighting and rescue equipment used by the
firefighters during emergency. They were given opportunity to view thoroughly
special appliances available at the stations such as Mobile Flood Light (MFL),
Hazardous Material Tender (HAZMAT tender) and Breathing Apparatus Tender (BAT).
When interviewed the participants feel benefited from the
course as they can improve their fire safety skills from their CLAIR advisors
as well as exchanging skills between Brunei and their Japanese counterparts on
various fire marshal training.
