Pandan 7 popular retail shop gutted in fire


The authorities are still investigating the cause of a fire at a small shop in Kampong Pandan 7 yesterday.

'Syarikat Matussin Bujang Sendirian' retail shop which has been operating for six years in the housing scheme area was reported to be engulfed in fire early yesterday morning.

The Fire and Rescue Services Department received a call at around 6.27am and rushed 20 staff and rescue officers led by the Kuala Belait Station Commander, Pengiran Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad to the scene.

The fire was first noticed by a staff of the shop when he smelled something burning. He tried to put the fire out using a fire extinguisher but failed.

Many of the shop items were damaged due to the fire. However, no one was injured.

The shop has five staff and usually opens at 7.00am everyday.

Also at the scene were the Commanding Officer of Operation B, Awang Abd Azis bin Haji Mohamad, and the village head of Kampong Pandan 7 C, Awang Haji Affendy bin Haji Awang Damit. (courtesy of Borneo Bulletin, Hjh Saemah Zulkefli)
