Firefighter spraying foam to the charred remains
A fire broke out yesterday morning (15 September 2011, Thursday) at the Berakas Power Station store, Terunjing. The fire which occurs around 11am saw a container packed with spare electrical equipment engulfed in flame.
Upon receiving an emergency call from the power station staffs a team of firefighters from Lambak Kanan fire station with two fire engines responded to the scene to put out the fire. Upon arrival they found out flame are raging from the container thus causing the firefighters to use the offensive firefighting to extinguish the fire. Their quick action also managed to save another container next to the burning container.
The fire was put out in 5 minutes however as the remaining embers are still burning deep inside the container the firefighters had to break open the container using the hydraulic spreader and putting it out with foam.
Present to supervise the operation was the Acting Assistant Superintendent of Fire Rescue (ASFR) Ali Hassanal, Lambak Kanan Fire Station Commander as well as Berakas Power Station officers. The cause and loss of the fire are still investigated by the Fire and Rescue Department.
