A newly opened hardware shop Chop Hup Guan located in front of the
Lamunin Primary School, Tutong totally destroyed in a blaze which occurred last
Friday morning (19 April 2013, Friday). Fortunately no injuries are reported in
the fire.
According to the statement by the Tutong Operation E command
fire investigators and Lamunin Fire Station control room stated that the fire
occurred around 9:53am. Upon receiving the emergency call a team of six
firefighters in a fire engine from Lamunin Fire Station rushed to the scene,
while another support firefighting team from Tutong Fire Station led by Senior
Fireman (ABK) 376 Chua Eng Lai also responded to the scene to provide
assistance.
Although they faced difficulties such as the shop hardware
stocks which consists of PVC piping and other flammable material in the shop,
the firefighters managed to control and extinguish the blaze in few minutes.
Present at the scene to supervise the operation was Senior Superintendent of
Fire Rescue (SSFR) Tahir bin Hj.Muktal, Commanding Officer of Tutong E command,
Station Officer Yong Fook Ching. Lamunin Fire Station commander as well as
Operation E command fire investigators.
