Strong wind wrecks Belait Ramadhan Stalls





A strong wind occurred last Wednesday afternoon (18 July 2012, Wednesday) at the Tamu Tudung Saji Complex near Belait Town. The strong wind demolished a section of the Ramadhan stalls which was erected by the Belait Municipal Board. To make worst several cars parked nearby are damaged due to the flying debris from the tents. A vendor who are making preparation at the stalls are also injured due to the incident. Fortunately the nearby His Majesty 66th birthday celebration stalls are not effected by the wind.  

According to one of the vendors interviewed at the scene said “The strong wind occurs around 3pm when some of the Ramadhan stalls vendors are making preparation at the stall. The scene which occur few minutes tend to blew stronger some of us seek shelter at the nearby Tudung Saji complex and from there we can see the cars parked nearby are hit by the tent debris.”

The stalls are also being cordoned by the police personnel from the Belait Police Station to make way for the cleanup and repair works carried to the damaged tent. A team of firefighters from Belait Fire Station as well as officers and staffs from the Belait Seria Municipal board are also present at the scene to assess the damage and conducting cleanup operation.
