A group of 24 year 7 students and a supervising teacher from
St.Margaret School, Seria last Saturday (22 September 2012, Saturday) held a
study visit to the Seria Fire Station. The visit is part of the school
initiative to bind ties between government agencies as well as to create a
safety awareness among its students.
Present to welcome and brief the visitors during the visit
was Assistant Superintendent Fire Rescue (ASFR) Wan Zulaini bin Wan Ibrahim,
Belait Operation B fire prevention officer as well as the Seria Fire Station
officers and firefighters. During the briefing ASFR Wan Zulaini pointed out on
how to extinguish a fire before the arrival of firefighters, fire safety as
well as how usually fire occurred and spreads.
After the briefing the visitors then proceed to view the
exhibits of various firefighting and rescue equipment used by the firefighters
when responding to emergency calls such as the fire extinguishers and fire
hose, “Jaws of Life” hydraulic rescue equipment and the Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) clothing.
The visit concluded with the Water Tender Ladder (WRL) and Light Pumper (LP) ride around Seria Town
and a group photo session to mark the visit.
