A team of firefighters in 4 four engines from Belait Fire Station led by the station commander Assistant Superintendent Fire Rescue (ASFR) Zulkeflee rushed to the scene to control and extinguish the blaze. To prevent overcrowding at the fire site a team of police personnel from Kuala Belait police station also present at the scene. As the blaze develop and the heat had caused damage to the nearby house Brunei Shell Fire and Emergency Response (BSP FAERS) team led by the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Hamdani in three fire engines also rushed to the scene to support the government fire rescue department.
The fire was under control in 30 minutes time, although the
water pressure from the nearby hydrant are high the firefighter had to ensure
the blaze fully extinguish due to the wooden structure of the house. During the
fire it is reported that around 10 people live in the house including the house
owner.
The house owner son who is around 50s are reported to be
injured in the face and back section after heroically rescued his mother who is
around 70s from the burning house. The burned victim then rushed to the Suri Seri
Begawan Hospital
for further treatment. Two cars from the burned house and another two other
cars at the neighboring house are also damaged by the fire.
The fire is suspected to be caused by electrical fault and
the Operation B fire prevention unit are still investigating the cause as well
as the loss from the fire. To prevent danger from electricity during the fire a
team of Department of Electrical Services (DES) personnel also rushed to the
scene to cut off the supply along the road
Present at the scene was Yang Behormat Awang Hj. Mohd Yussof
bin Hj Dulamin, Belait District Legislative Council Member, Belait District
Officer Awang Hj Haris bin Othman and Hj Pungut bin Ali, Mukim Belait
Penghulu.
