International School Berakas (ISB) recently (26 November
2013, Tuesday) visited the Berakas Fire Station, Berakas. The visit is part of
the visit held by the school to government and non-government institutions.
Upon arrival at the fire station the visitors were greeted
by officers from the Operational C command. They later proceed to the Women
Operation Unit where they were briefed on the station which houses the women
firefighters and the only fire station in the country manned by women. The
women firefighters also show the children how to wear firefighting suit which
later wear by the children.
The visitors then proceed to the nearby Berakas Fire Station
where they are greeted with the display of fire engines and fire motorcycles
which are used for any emergencies. The children also enjoy riding the fire
engines and fire motorcycles and they also given opportunity to operate the
fire hose which are used for firefighting. Beside visiting the children are
also briefed on the importance of fire safety such as never play with fire and
fire sources such as candles and matches. The visit concluded with the group
photo session and the exchange of token of appreciation.
