Due to the heavy rainfall which occurred across the nation last Wednesday night (14 November 2012, Wednesday). Several places at Belait District are submerged by flashflood as well as flooded due to the combination of the rainfall and high tide.
At Lorong Tiga area near Seria Town
half of the four lane main road are submerged by flashfloods which occurred
after the heavy rainfall. Until this morning (15 November 2012, Wednesday)
traffic flow at the main road are reported to be slow as drivers are driving slowly
on the flooded main road. Emergency services comprises of police and fire
rescue personnel can be seen conducting patrol at the area to ensure the safety
of road users.
Meanwhile at Sungai
Mau Village
in the inner part of Belait District similar flooding are also reported. During
a visit to the road leading to the Sungai Mau river jetty which are known by
the local as “pengkalan Sungai Mau” saw the road leading to the jetty was
submerged due to the heavy rain and high tide. Fortunately there are no damage
on property reported in the flood as the villagers had prepared for the
flooding.
A Sungai Mau resident when interviewed said “Due to the
heavy rainfall since early November the area is nearly everyday submerged by
flood water. The flood will rise higher especially during the high tide.
Fortunately the main Labi road nearby had been upgraded so it is not affected
by the flood.”
In relation to the flooding members of the public are
advised to prepred themselved especially those who are living in the low laying
area. For emergency assistance during flashfloods they are advised to contact
the emergency services especially Fire Rescue Department (BFRD) on their
hotline 995 and Royal Brunei Police Force 993.
