A major forest fire occurred last Sunday (4 August 2013, Sunday)
at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) water tank area. The fire which
occurred around since 5pm caused thick smoke and flames raging from the hillside
water tank area. A team of firefighters and fire engines from Rimba Fire
Station and supported by another support team from Berakas fire station are at
the scene to control and fight the fire. The fire is caused by the hot and dry
weather condition.
The firefighter managed to contain and extinguish the fire around 9pm thus preventing it from spreading to the nearby residential
area. Present at the scene to supervise the firefighting operation was officers
from the Operational C command. This is another major blaze at the UBD forested
area after the last one occurred in 2012 and 2009.
